THE JOB
As our Technical Director, you will play an essential role in setting up the studio infrastructure and in laying the foundation for the game. Your expertise and collaborative spirit will drive all key technical decisions for the studio and guide your team. We are Unreal-based, and we are building a multiplayer game with high emphasis on emergent experiences. In the early phases of development we will focus on prototying.
Some of your tasks:
This is a leadership role requiring the collaboration with and guidance of many people. Some of your day-to-day tasks may include:
- Inspiring, mentoring, and building a high-performing technical team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous growth.
- Shaping and driving the technical vision and strategy for our groundbreaking AAA game, ensuring alignment with creative and business goals.
- Designing and overseeing the implementation of a robust, scalable, and efficient game architecture, making key decisions to ensure technical excellence.
- Owning game performance across multiple platforms, ensuring smooth, high-quality gameplay through rigorous optimization and quality assurance.
- Working closely with studio management, artists, designers, and stakeholders to bring the game’s vision to life, acting as a crucial bridge between senior management, technical and creative teams.
As our Technical Director you will be part of our experienced and dynamic Core Team and you will report to the Senior Producer.
THE STUDIO AND YOU
Since we are a small team in the startup-up phase, all employees are expected to wear multiple hats and to handle some ambiguity.
We think your profile looks something like this:
- 5+ Years experience within AAA (7th/8th Generation Consoles a bonus)
- Strong proficiency with C++ (Unreal a bonus)
- Experience with live-service online games
- Excellent command of the English language
- A servant leader mindset, emphasising the importance of helping your team
- A desire to create a culture of quality, collaboration and iteration
As the TD you will be an important cornerstone in Bespoke Pixel, and you’ll be expected to share your ideas and make a tangible impact on the project. That’s why we want you to have a curious mindset and that you wholeheartedly enjoy coaching, mentoring and motivating colleagues.
We are looking for someone who is visionary and insightful - yet pragmatic and practical. We expect you to stay cool, mature, and focused when things get challenging.
At Bespoke Pixel we work on site in Barcelona, currently 5 days a week. Therefore, living in Barcelona or being willing to relocate is a must.
