THE JOB
We are currently looking for a gameplay programmer to join our studio!
Our project is extremely focused on gameplay, systems, the perfection of features and precise innovation in gameplay loops. As our lead for the Gameplay Programmer team, your love of games and obsession with detail will be key for us.
We are working with UE5, which is a feature-rich and established engine.
Some of your tasks:
This is a dynamic role that will vary day-to-day, that may involve:
- Experimenting with cutting-edge game design and engaging in rapid prototyping alongside our world class game designers and artists.
- Continuously prototype and iterate on features, embracing feedback to enhance the gaming experience.
- Executing our shared vision with meticulous attention to detail and an emphasis on quality.
- Profiling and optimising our game so that players may enjoy it consistently and across multiple platforms and hardware standards.
- Working across multiple game platforms and across the entire software stack.
- Becoming a leading subject matter expert in your chosen area of Unreal Engine, educating and aiding others in your team.
This role reports directly to the Technical Director.
THE STUDIO & YOU
Since we are a small team in the startup-up phase, all employees are expected to wear multiple hats and to handle some ambiguity.
We think your profile looks something like this:
- Strong proficiency in C++ (Unreal Engine is a bonus).
- A proven track record of shipping games.
- Strong communication skills.
- The ability and desire to articulate improvements in production and development processes.
- The ability to relate to and empathise with disparate disciplines, and to aid those disciplines in understanding programming issues.
- A desire to create quality
As a Gameplay programmer, you will be an important cornerstone in Bespoke Pixel, and you will be expected to share your ideas and make a tangible impact on the project. That is why we want you to have a curious mindset and that you love to be part of a dynamic team.
We are looking for someone who enjoys refining and perfecting systems and features and who trusts playtests to evaluate progress.
We expect you to stay cool, mature, and focused when things get challenging.
At Bespoke Pixel we work on site in Barcelona, currently 5 days a week. Therefore, living in Barcelona or being willing to relocate is a must.

Leading the team is David Polfeldt, known for his work on acclaimed titles such as World In Conflict, Far Cry 3, Just Dance Now, Assassins Creed, Revelations Southpark, The Division, Frontiers of Pandora, and Star Wars Outlaws. He is the author of The Dream Architects – Adventures in the Video-game Industry (Grand Central Publishing, 2020).
